Janice's Success Story.
Janice's Success Story
Janice was raising two teenage sons and her 2-year-old granddaughter when she lost her job.  Bills began to pile up and eventually Janice lost her home to foreclosure.  In a state of depression, Janice turned to the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, where she was referred to Goodwill.  After taking some training classes, Janice was hired as a seamstress in Goodwill’s Contract Services Division.  Janice smiles when she talks about being able to provide for her sons and granddaughter. “I’m making my own money and feeling better about the future for my kids.  We don’t have everything yet, but we’re getting there.”

COMPUTER RECYCLING

Did you know?

  • Electronic waste is the world's fastest growing waste problem.
  • Each year over 220 million tons of old computers make their way into US landfills.
  • 250 million computers will become obsolete in the next 5 years.
  • Computers and related equipment can contain hazardous materials unwanted in our landfills.

It's about working together.

Goodwill and Dell have partnered to create RECONNECT, a comprehensive electronics recovery, reuse and environmentally responsible recycling opportunity for consumers.

It's easy and it's free.

RECONNECT offers free drop-off recycling and reuse options. Simply bring in your donation to any participating Goodwill store or donation center.

Saving the environment.

We at Goodwill are committed to making sure that all computers and related electronics that have reached the end of their useful life are recycled in an environmentally friendly manner, thus preventing hazardous materials from reaching our landfills.

It's not just the environment that benefits.

Proceeds from the resale value of donations support Goodwill's mission to help people find jobs and become more self-sufficient.

It's a tax deduction.

All donations to Goodwill of items in good used condition or better are tax deductible.
